Prince Harmony was back to his favourite role at Happy Valley midweek and the Price Bloodstock galloper racked up his fourth win over the 1,200m course there.

Last season, the Chris So-trained gelding put together three straight wins over the Valley 1,200m, using his tactical speed to find the lead then refusing to give in when challenged.

In four runs this season, though, Prince Harmony had not been able to get the lead with any comfort, working hard from wide draws several times and tiring.

“Things have not worked out in his early runs this season,” said trainer So. “But his runs have not been too bad with everything against him. He isn’t a star but he tries very hard.”

So said that Prince Harmony had been held back a little at the start of the season so as to give him a good break after a successful first preparation.

“He raced right up to the end of June, so coming back in September would have been very quick,” he said. “So, he started racing again in January and, as I said, didn’t have much luck until tonight. He does need some things to go right in his races but getting the lead the way he did tonight on the C+3 rail gave him his chance and he took it.”

That makes Prince Harmony’s record over the Valley 1,200m four wins from seven starts and pushes his prizemoney past $2.7 million.
