RIGHT CALL
25th March 2018
Price Bloodstock’s Right Call took the drop into Class Four at Sha Tin on Sunday and kept up an almost spotless record in the grade to take his earnings past $4 million.
Right Call was a history maker last season when he won in Class Three to be Price Bloodstock’s 500th Hong Kong winner, but it is in Class Four that he has really made his name and Sunday’s victory made his record at that level 10 starts for 4 wins, 4 placings and one other prize money cheque.
His record for Joao Moreira is just as good – 4 wins and 3 seconds from 7 pairings – so punters had a tremendous guide to the six-year-old adding one more win to his record and Right Call delivered for them.
“He is a very honest horse. He finds Class Three they are mostly a bit too quick for him but in Class Four he makes his own luck up on the speed and his record shows that he gets the job done quite often,” said Moreira.
It didn’t all go to plan with Right Call looking to get a lone lead at one stage, but a rival put the pressure on at the 800m and Moreira elected to let him go, and it was the winning move as Right Call gathered the leader up again to get the lead at the 100m and then held on bravely.
