FORMULA GALORE
9th May 2018
Price Bloodstock’s Formula Galore broke back into the winner’s circle at Happy Valley on Wednesday night in what trainer Caspar Fownes said was an overdue return for the gelding’s honesty.
“You have a look at his record and he isn’t often far away and when it falls into place he is able to win,” Fownes said. “This is his first win in Class Five, and he’s a little bit better than this grade, so I would be confident that he won’t be out of place going back to Class Four next time. He’s already won twice in that class, and this victory will give him a bit of confidence.”
The win was the third for Formula Galore, all of them at Happy Valley, and Fownes said a tweaking of his gear definitely helped.
“He can find 1,200m a little bit sharp at times but the visor going on seemed to give him that extra little bit of tactical speed that Zac Purton was able to use,” he said.
The win took Formula Galore’s earnings to within sight of $2.5 million.
