It didn’t take long for Price Bloodstock to get back into the winning swing in the new Hong Kong season, with Invincible Missile returning from the summer break with a convincing first-up victory for Chris So and Zac Purton at the second meeting.

Invincible Missile also won first-up in his three-year-old season before a number of unlucky defeats and So admitted it had been a frustration.

“He should have won one or two of the other runs but ended up with four minor placings after the win. It was frustrating but I was not panicking as I always felt he would be better as a four-year-old,” said So after Purton punched the gelding home without too much concern.

Although both wins have been at 1200m, the trainer is quite certain that won’t be Invincible Missile’s forte as his career progresses and is looking to stretch him further.

“I don’t think 1,200m is the best distance for him, but he was fresh today,” he said. “He trialled like he would handle 1200m first-up and I didn’t want to push him to 1,400m at this early stage in the campaign. Let’s see how he pulls up and I will think about what is next for him but I do think he’ll be better over 1400m and might even get further. The main thing is he is back in winning form and everything is still ahead of him.”
