HONG KONG WIN 跳出世界
15th January 2020
Price Bloodstock’s improving sprinter Hong Kong Win showed his affinity for the Happy Valley 1000m on Wednesday night with another powerful performance.
Hong Kong Win was an impressive winner over the course first-up this season then wasn’t able to take that form to the straight course at Sha Tin in his next couple but returning to the turns of the Valley brought another nice win for the John Size-trained speedster.
The gelding led in his first win and this time was seen stalking the pace but the result was just as emphatic.
“He has improved as expected, probably because of the tough runs he’s had at Sha Tin,” said champion jockey Joao Moreira. “It was impressive but circumstances also helped him out tonight because they went quite fast up front and he just tracked them, and he was able to go past them any time I wanted.”
Moreira said he had not been disappointed with Hong Kong Win at Sha Tin but felt the level of competition was slightly harder and he wouldn’t rule out the sprinter winning at the main track at some stage.
“His runs at Sha Tin have been pretty good even though he has been beaten, and if you run a good race over there you’re likely to be very hard to beat coming back here as I believe the competition is not as strong,” he explained.
