MASTER ALBERT 馬功臣
4th March 2020
In typical Hong Kong style, Price Bloodstock’s Master Albert showed on Wednesday night that he has turned the corner when he made it back to back wins.
How often do we see horses which are not quite getting the prize break through and then go on with the job?
Master Albert had been a slightly frustrating galloper for some time as he continued to race well and land minor cheques without scoring wins but trainer Chris So has got him right back to his best now and the gelding again finished strongly from the rear to win another Happy Valley 1200m under Karis teetan.
“He’s changed this season – I haven’t ridden him a lot, I’ve just been on him this season – but each and every run has been good as he’s hardly missed the money,” Teetan said. “His last win was good, there’s a few things about him that you need to understand about him but Chris has done a great job to keep him in good shape like that – particularly for an older horse.”
The win took Master Albert’s prizemoney earnings past $4 million, from 3 winsand another 16 first four finishes in his 34 starts.
“He’s really consistent and genuine. And his rating should not change enough to take him out of Class 4 so he’ll be a chance to make it three in a row next time,” said So.
