Price Bloodstock rising star Sight Success let his inexperience show but it was a case of earning while learning at Sha Tin on Sunday.

The four-year-old had coasted home after covering extra ground at his debut in Class 4 and impressed the handicapper enough to have to jump a class for his second race.

He made it two from two over the Sha Tin 1200m again, but it didn’t look quite as simple, despite a clear margin, as the gelding tossed his head around and showed a few signs of greenness under Joao Moreira.

Supported into “Silent Witness-style” odds of 1.1, Sight Success was cast in a slightly different role this time, leading rather than sitting behind in his debut win and trainer John Size hinted that may have played a part.

“He looked a little bit awkward in the run because he’s going joint-leader and he’s got daylight in front of him. It’s not perfect – it’s not what you want to see,” trainer John Size said. “But that’s just inexperience at only his second run. At the finish, the horse was still good enough to do the job and win the race. That’s what he’s out there to do and he did that, he just showed that he is still learning his job and I’m sure he’ll get that right as he gains experience. You couldn’t ask for anything more than he has done so far.”

Sight Success led home a Price Bloodstock quinella, too, as Tornado Twist was the nearest chaser down to the line, with the five-year-old pushing his own stake money past the $6.7 million mark and indicating that his winning turns are far from over.
