FANTASTIC WAY
7th Nov 2021
Price Bloodstock sprinter, Fantastic Way had to share the spoils at Sha Tin on Sunday as he posted his fourth victory but the Jockey Club bonus made sure it was a rich victory anyway.
In one of the closest three-way finishes in years after a struggle down the home straight at the end of 1200m, Fantastic Way was declared the dead-heat winner of the Class 2, his fourth win from six starts.
But the John Size-trained gelding’s first victory in Class 2 also earned him a $1 million stakes bonus from the Jockey Club for a High Achievement bonus and pushed his stake earning well past $4 million, with much more to come.
“He was quite brave today. Those three horses really went eyeball to eyeball down the last 200m, he was the least experienced of them but he didn’t blink, he didn’t lose focus at all and fought really hard,” said Size. “The other winner had gate one so he had a really soft run through the race while Fantastic Way had the outside draw and covered more ground in the run, even though he had some cover, so that was the difference in such a tight finish. He was the least experienced horse in the race against some tough campaigners, and really showed his character today. You’d have to think he can still improve a little more and he has all the attributes to keep competing well in these races.”
