SIGHT SPIRIT 醉眼光

Price Bloodstock kept up a fierce pace of success at Sha Tin on Sunday, as Sight Spirit landed an overdue maiden win.
Overdue? It was only the Toronado gelding’s third race start but he had advertised good ability at the trials before two very unlucky performances as favourite at his first two races, so his break through under Joao Moreira over the Sha Tin 1400m was a welcome one.
“He’s a young horse who, we thought by now, would already have won his first race,” said Moreira. “His trials had been outstanding but he hadn’t had the right opportunity to show it. We were disappointed by the way his first races turned out, of course, but there was no disappointment today.”
Moving up from 1200m to the more suitable 1400m, Sight Spirit was able to avoid trouble and keep himself in clear room before Moreira made a bold run around the leading horses soon after straightening into the final stretch and Sight Spirit was never threatened.
“The way how he won today makes me comfortable to think there are more wins to come, and I’m sure that he will be able to run further than 1400m as well,” said Moreira.
Trainer John Size was happy to put the ill luck of those first runs behind him, too.
“That was what we had expected to see earlier but it was no fault of the horse, he had done nothing wrong,” he said. “Today we saw what he’s really made of and it is all ahead of him now.”
It was a continuation of a long and successful relationship between Price Bloodstock and owner Tam Wing-kun, who has raced multiple Price Bloodstock winners in the past including the Group One hero, Sight Winner.
